Ghost flames
Here are some pictures of my uncles Harley Fat Boy that I painted Ghost flames on. Ghost flames are an effect that make the
flames seem to appear and disappear. This effect can be done a couple of different ways, but in my opinion the best way is to use
pearl. Pearl is transparent so when the sun light hits it directly you see the color and when the sun light isn't hitting it directly you
see the base color.
The flames never really disappear but because pearl is translusent when you apply it with the right techinique it appears that they
do.

Below: Here is a picture of the gas tank after it has been wet sanded and polished.
Below: Here are some more pictures of the tank from different angles to show how the effect looks. Keep
in mind pictures don't do this effect justice.
Here is a picture of the gas tank
after I wet sanded it. The next
step is to polish it to a deep
glossy shine. This process gets
rid of any imperfections in the
clear, (dirt, orange peel, etc.)
I tape the edges to protect them
from burning through and ruining
the paint job.
